Cabinet Locks Baby Proof Questions

Okay, I’m trying to baby-proof my house!!!?

What do people put under their bathroom sinks besides towels? I have always kept cleaning products down there, and I don’t completely trust the cabinet locks. (White plastic clips)

I have a new place now for the cleaning products, but I hate to waste that space.

What do you keep under your bathroom sink?

I don’t put anything right now becuse of 3 year old. It may be wasting space but better safe then sorry.

Baby Proof Your Home For Child Safety

There are many things you can do to baby proof your home. Whether you think you will need it or not, it is a very swell safety precaution to take to insure your children are not in danger. Follow these guidelines to help prevent your children from injury.

Secure your cabinets so your children cannot open doors and get into things. Canned food can be dropped on children’s feet and they could be smashed. Trips to the hospital are never fun and unneeded if you can follow these steps. Make sure all hazardous chemicals are in a cabinet with locks to prevent poisoning. Children should not be able to open cabinets for risk of also smashing their fingers. Do not leave drawers open; children may walk into them or stand up under them and injure their head or face.

To baby proof doors you can buy door handle covers that have to be squeezed the right way for them to open. This prevents children from being able to run outside when you are not watching or get into un-baby-proofed rooms. Baby gates also work wonders if you are trying to contain a child in a room or two. Be sure to secure them tightly so they do not lean against them and tumble over with it. Keep change off of counters, tables, or anything low enough for a child to reach. They could stick the coins in their mouth and choke. Any other small object as well should be put up out of reach for the same reason.

Also, keep cords and plugs hidden. Electric outlets need covers so that they cannot stick their fingers in them and get electrocuted. Always keep alcohol products out of reach, including mouthwash, even unopened containers. Children are smarter than you think and given time they can break into more stuff than you can imagine.  Make sure to vaccum your floors often to eliminate the risk of your children crawling in stuff people can bring in from outside on the bottoms of their shoes. Some things can be very harmful to your children if they eat them.

Set your water heater to 120 degrees F or below to reduce the risk of burns incase your child turns on the water while in the bath. Drill holes in child’s toy box in case they crawl in and become trapped inside. Install baby gates in front of stairways to prevent injury from falling down stairs and secure standing furniture to the wall so children cannot pull it over onto themselves. Dresser drawers can be a danger for tipping when they pull out a drawer and try to climb in.

Child proofing your house will help you feel more comfortable about leaving the room for a minute, for instance, to go potty. Sure, you are supposed to watch your children every second, but the reality is that no one is that perfect, and kids can get into things very quickly. Not only will baby proofing help you get some things done around the house, but you will know that your child is safe while doing so.
