Which cabinet hardware finish is more similar to stainless steel: dull chrome or satin nickel?
We’re choosing Avante cabinet door pulls from a website and the colors may be deceiving…we have a stainless steel sink and a brushed nickel faucet that looks exactly like the sink…so the dull chrome/satin nickel terms have us really confused!
They do not look the same AT ALL; they look different on the website side by side, see:

The ones we chose, #62273, are not available at depot or lowes anywhere near us.
Actually, all these LOOK identical. It is the materials (metallurgical) that are different. Don’t sweat it. Stainless steel, brushed nickel, satin nickel, and dull chrome all virtually look alike. Stainless and brushed nickel look similar to each other but brushed nickel has a slightly warmer (“golden”) look. Due to fabrication processes, ANY finish (even stainless steel) can look different from manufacturer to manufacturer. BUT, all your guests will never notice the difference…except perhaps if they do this kind of thing for a living–and none of us will ever fault you (because we know that it is impossible to PERFECTLY match hardware).

SATIN NICKEL finish is nickel plating on brass that has been dulled and lacquer coated. Satin Nickel is sometimes referred to as “brushed nickel”. It is similar in appearance to brushed stainless steel or brushed aluminum.
BRUSHED NICKEL is a nickel finish that has been treated to dull the finish. Also known as “matte nickel” or “satin nickel”. This finish varies among manufacturers.
MATTE NICKEL is a nickel finish that has been treated to dull the finish. Also known as “satin nickel” or “brushed nickel”.
DULL CHROME is a plating, often referred to simply as chrome, manufactured through a technique of electroplating a thin layer of chromium onto a metal object. The chromed layer is then decorated with a “brushed” finish. Also known as “satin chrome”.

The color of internet photos are unreliable at best. You will have to see it in person. (Even live and up close, florescent, incandescent, mercury, halogen lighting, ect. will cause ANYTHING to look different when viewed in natural light.) If you already have gotten the “brushed nickel faucet”…why don’t you stick with that, and get brushed nickel hardware. Sounds like a plan. And stop worrying, it will look great.
