Kitchen Cabinet Pull Out!

Kitchen Cabinet Pull Out Questions

How can I soundproof 1 wall?
I know that sounds rediculous, but ONE wall of my baby girl’s room is back to back with the kitchen. Whenever someone in the kitchen pulls open a drawer, opens and closes a cabinet, or grabs dishes in/out of the cabinet, the sound is SO loud and amplified in the babys room, that it wakes her up all the time. (Seriously, when someone opens a kitchen drawer, it sounds like someone is skateboarding across the wall!) So I can’t use my kitchen when she is asleep. I’d really like to figure out how to soundproof that one wall, so that when someone is working in the kitchen, it doesn’t carry through into her room.
BTW, I’d like to see if there is anything I can put BETWEEN the walls (like drop down from up in the attic), as I obviosly can’t tear out my kitchen cabinets to put material behind them…..and I don’t want to mount material on my baby’s wall, because the nursery is painted and decorated and finished.
There is not an option of another room to move the baby to.
Sorry, there really is no cheap way to sound proof a wall after it’s been finished, especially if you have cabinets on one wall.
Here are some things you can do:
Put a few drops of STP(oil treatment in automotive and hardware stores) on the drawer tracks. Glue some strips of rubber foam tape to the inside rims of the drawer face. Move anything that’s in the drawers that makes noise to another drawer.
If you can get access to an insulation blower, you can drill some 2.5″ holes in the 2×4′s on top of the wall between each stud. The blow the thick insulation down into the wall. Make sure it’s not conductive(obviously it wouldn’t be).
If you want to spend some money, you can remove the sheet rock from inside your daughter’s room, it will be easier to place insulation in there. Then you can cover the entire wall with rubber shower wall lining. Then re-sheetrock the room. That will give you more sound-proofing than you can get otherwise. Whatever insulation you use, make sure it’s thick and has a sound proofing quality(like a pillow has)
How big is her room? Have you ever thought of moving her to a different room?
